The Next Longarms Safe Handling Course is set for Next Saturday 17th JANUARY 2026 @ 1pm at the Big Springs Range located on Wrigleys Lane, Big Springs. 25km Sth of Wagga Wagga,
The club has been receiving a substantial number of inquiries from members of the public wishing to join SSAA and obtain their firearms Licence.
The club has decided to hold a safety course earlier than planned this year. The club is looking to generate new membership and get more people involved in the safe and thoroughly enjoyable sport of target shooting.
The club has decided that any person who presents at the range for a longarms safety course and can prove they have joined SSAA (NSW) - Wagga with the genuine reason of TARGET SHOOTING or TARGET SHOOTING + HUNTING will have their $50 training fee waived.
You must be able to prove by way of membership card or membership email on the day you undertake training, no exceptions. Those without membership can still undertake the training at a cost of $50 adult and $10 Junior 12-17 old.

If you have ever even thought about having a shot or obtaining your licence now is the time to get involved. The club has over 1160 members and a dedicated volunteer crew of Range Officers and Safety Trainers that can help you get your licence. The club is open to members on Wednesday and Saturday Afternoons and all day on Sundays. The club holds local competitions every weekend in target rifle, shotgun and pistol events. We are a social club and quite often enjoy a BBQ lunch before or after different matches. We have an air conditioned club house with male, female and disabled toilets, kitchen, conference area, power, phone booster and wifi internet.
The course takes approx. 3 hrs and involves both theory and practical training as well as guidance on the application process, firearms safe storage and the different types of shooting events available.
Photographic ID and enclosed footwear are essential. If you have hearing protection please bring it, however there will be ear plugs available on the day free of charge.
You will be required to complete a Police P650 form which will ask a number of questions. Relevant questions screenshot below. Please note that if you believe you will answer YES to ANY of these questions, please contact us at Waggassaapistolclub@gmail.com prior to attending as we will have to provide you some information, confidentially, on your application.
