The range is closed for the long weekend but will be open on Wednesdays as normal 1.00 to 4.00.
Sunday saw 18 shooters contest a 50y rimfire score event.  Mick Reed and Barry Wild were the only master class shooters.  Barry had a train wreck on his last target (round fore ends and 36 power scopes just do not mix, I have a feeling Barry might bring his target rifle next time) giving the day to Mick 248.12 to 240.04. Along the way Mick shot a new club record for a single target, 50.05 a perfect score.  In hunting class it was a Robinson family affair with Logan, who is still a junior, taking first place and high score for the day with 249.06 and dad Terry third with 247.09.  Second went to Don Ewin on 248.07, followed by John Buik 246.06: Gavin Power 245.07: David Wade 244.06 and junior Ryan Mitchell 243.03.  Yes it was very competitive.

Results for the Blue Heeler Weekend
The fly weekend of the 5th and 6th may have attracted the best fly shooters in Australia but our locals were not outclassed.  Particularly pleasing was the number of juniors competing.  Few juniors are willing to accept the challenge of trying to place shots into the size of a postage stamp at 500m  but we had five. In factory class on Saturday, from a field of seventeen, Gavin Power made fourth, while Arthur Robinson and junior Ryan  Mitchell tied for fifth, all beating the man who on Sunday set a new national record. Still on Saturday in custom class, from a field of 37, Greg Chapman finished 13th,  Rob Halloran 21st and Bob Wright 22nd.  Tyler Chapman was top junior finishing 23rd overall.  On Sunday from a field of 36 in light gun Bob Wright was third. Junior Kira Deehan was 9th, not that I would mention it this, she was well ahead of mum and dad despite the fact that mum shot a new national group record. Full results can  be seen at 500mflyshooter.com.au

Sunday saw a rimfire 50y group event shot in mild conditions and competition was fierce with an agg of better than 0.5xx” required to make the top half of a field of 19.
The highlight of the day was the performance of Carlo Zuliani bettering both the club record for smallest group with a 0.063”( that is five shots forming a hole only 1.5mm larger than a single bullet hole) and for best agg with 0.214”.  Yes you guessed it, both records were previously held by Carlo. In masters class the minor places were filled by Greg Hannon and Barry Wild.
In hunting class the honours went to new club shooter Tony Gestier followed by Don Ewin and Terry Robinson. View results HERE.

Sunday was 200y group and once again in custom class Clayton set the standard on the A target with a group of 0.460 inch. Despite D and E targets of 0.732” and 0.644” Don Ewin could not catch Clayton and  was relegated to second.  Third place went to junior Tyler Chapman on 1.069”with dad, shall we say, quite a distance back on1.501” for fourth.
In factory class Arthur Robinson lead the field until his last shot when  a misplacement of one inch relegated him to third.  New centrefire competitor Adam Browne shot consistently to take first in factory on 1.185”. Results for Sunday 22nd February
On Sunday 21 rimfire shooters contested a 50y group event.  The exceptionally good groups shot were a reflection of the reasonably mild but usually readable conditions.  Although our three top rimfire shooters were absent eleven  0.2xx or better groups were shot, with  small group of 0.186 going to talented junior Logan Robinson.  In Masters Class it was Barry Wild (0.336) from Carlo and Maddi Zuliani.  In Hunting Class Logan Robinson did not make any mistakes to take the event on 0.377; he was followed by Rob Cheetham (0.434) and Andrew Butts (0.490).  The standout performance was Tom Hoffman who in his first ever shoot carded a 0.759 agg for 12th place and except for one shot on his last target would have placed much higher.

Results for Sunday 15th February

Sunday saw 15 competitors in the first 100y group shoot for the year.  Centrefire bench (not rimfire) is now split into factory and custom rather than masters and hunting.  In factory Greg Atkinson took the honours on 0.619 to be followed by Mick Reed (0.694) with Arthur Robinson and Garry Moore (0.701) tied for third.  In custom  class it was Don Ewin (0.284) from talented junior Kyle Hughes (0.360) and Andrew Butts (0.471). View results HERESunday saw nine shooters deal with the changing fortunes of shooting tight groups with a LeeEnfield as they competed in the Laurie Andrews Memorial Shoot.  Local LeeEnfield enthusiast Greg Blake showed his understanding by winning two of the three classes but Peter Smith pushed him taking out the field rifle class.  As usual Greg Hannon,  another LeeEnfield enthusiast, put in a class performance with two seconds and a third.
